Kennedy Approach Docs

I've retained the original formatting so you may have to adjust it to get the file to display and/or print correctly. Noisy phone lines caused the occasional glitch or truncated file. I replaced some, but not all, instances of line noise with "[ERROR]" where applicable.

"Kennedy Approach" by Microprose Software
Joystick in port 2. After game is loaded, use keyboard, NOT joystick, to select skill level. Leave disk in drive. When you see the planes flying on the screen, use joystick to move rectangle to plane you wish to give in structions to. Example:

ID ABCDE
O FBACB
D AABAM
A 14235

[Read by columns] This means that plane "A" is coming from [originating from] FLA ["F"], heading towards [destination] ATL ["A"], at an altitude of 1000 feet. For planes whose destination is the airport in the middle of the screen, you must guide them in horizontally, right to left, so they land between or on the dotted line. See the demo for an example.

Planes can move in any one of eight directions, just like a joystick. 000 is north, 045 is northeast, 180 is south, etc., in degrees.

Planes which are waiting to take off from the central airport must be told where to go. Type the ID letter of the plane, then move the joystick so it points where the plane should go, and at which altitude. Planes near each other can't be at the same altitude, otherwise a conflict will occur.

Planes which are going towards other airports must be at 4000 feet when they leave the screen. If you clear a plane for landing, it will automatically go to the right height. It will not land, however, if it not facing the runway [horizontally].

Each dot beneath a plane represents 1000 feet in altitude. The higher a plane goes [up to 5000 feet], the more dots will appear under it.
