I've retained the original formatting so you may have to adjust it to get the file to display and/or print correctly. Noisy phone lines caused the occasional glitch or truncated file. I replaced some, but not all, instances of line noise with "[ERROR]" where applicable.

                 NOTES
=======================================

 To change course from the Battle Plot
screen you must type the ship number
followed by the new course followed by
rudder right or left.

 When a sub is detected on the Battle
Plot screen the ship that is closest
will change from yellow to green.

 If two subs are detected at the same
time the ship that is closest changes
to green and the other ship changes to
white.  (BEWARE!  Ships can detect each
other and can also detect the merchant
ships on the left side of the screen.)

 Subs will enter from the right side of
the Battle Plot screen and try to exit
the screen on the left.  Your job is 
to stop them from escaping.

 On the Destroyer screen the bearing to
the target is displayed in the lower
left corner.  The ships current course
is in the top center.

 Sonar echos will get closer together
as you near the sub.  Drop your depth
charges when the echos are as close as
possible.

 There are always five submarines in
each game.

 If you are damaged or run out of depth
charges you can get repairs and charges
in the cove located at position 16/6 on
the Battle Plot. (Near the center.)

 Time on the Battle Plot screen runs at
20 times normal.  (One minute passes 
every 3 seconds.)
